Bicycle and Equipment Safety Checklist
This checklist is to be completed by a bicycle mechanic at your local bicycle shop. The Region Composite team requires that this checklist be completed before any student can take part in team practices.
This checklist is to be completed by a bicycle mechanic at your local bicycle shop. The Region Composite team requires that this checklist be completed before any student can take part in team practices.
- Helmet less than 5 years old and in good condition, no cracks or major dents and fits the rider properly.
- Tire in good condition and not worn out
- Wheels are true
- Skewers properly closed with the wheel mounted correctly.
- Hub bearings in good condition
- Headset tight and in adjustment
- Handlebars straight and secure within the stem.
- Stem bolts secure.
- Grips secure
- Saddle secure and at right height for rider
- Brake Levers at proper position for the rider
- Brakes in good working order
- Crankset and Pedals secure and adjusted
- Chainrings in good shape with no worn out, bent, or broken teeth
- Rear Derailleur and Shifter in adjustment and in good working order.
- Front Derailleur and Shifter in adjustment and in good working order.
- Chain is properly lubed (not overly so) and in good working order.
- Suspension in good working order and, where possible, adjusted for the rider.
- Frame is safe, there are no broken welds, joints, or cracks.
